7. Diana(美國)

9/15 another volunteer from WWOOF will come. Her name is Diana and she's from the U.S. At first I thought she was a foreigner but after her aunt contacted me I found out she was Taiwanese but born in the U.S. Her father lives in San Francisco. Diana said her graduation present from her father is for her to come to Taiwan to visit by herself. Because she has never been to Taiwan and was afraid, her aunt from Taichung drove her up to my farm. Diana said she went wwoofing at another farm near Taipei but she was afraid of being in the mountain alone so she came back early.

She stayed here for 2 weeks and helped me a lot. She picked weeds, made tea, helped applied fertilizer...she was extremely hard working. She finished applying the fertilizer throughout my whole tea plantation in one day! Good thing she was here to help me or I would have been too tired!

She is making tea

I let them make tea the old fashioned way. The old fashioned way of making tea is to use wood to start a fire and bake the tea. They were so happy some tea leaves were starting to become burnt..
A couple of days before she arrived Edmond(volunteer from England who came not long ago) also came back. She was very happy here because she had someone to chat with her. They were so good at eating, they finished the soybean paste that I bought in 3 days! They wanted soybean paste with their rice. I descovered that foreigners like to eat soybean paste, all of them seem to enjoy it while they are here. They also love eating rice with my seasoning made from garlic, pepper, onion, and soysauce.

But something that confuses me is they always leave some rice in their bowls when they finish eating. All of them seem to do that I didn't understand. So I asked Diana why and she told me probably because they didn't want me to keep refilling their bowls, they were too full!

My photo taking technique always catches her backside

When they were here every night in the village was exciting. All the villagers come and chat with them or simply just want to see them. It was very fun. They bring us a lot of good times. Lately everyone has been asking me when is the next time I will have foreigners come? My small village is starting to become a small united nations!

She was very good at learning each step of the tea making process

After they left the village became quiet again. Everyone askes me when they will come again. I told them probably not for a long time they are leaving for America next month! I still have a lot of work left I sure hope they can stay and help!
